PORTION OF CHAPEL STREET TO BE CLOSED FOR DEMOLITION WORK ON THURSDAY

(1/8/2008) NEW HAVEN- Chapel Street, between Orange Street and Church Street, will be closed to motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic all day this Thursday due to demolition work on the former Spector building. Residents who reside on that portion of Chapel Street have been asked to evacuate their homes between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday as a safety precaution. A determination will be made on Thursday afternoon as to whether or not there will be a need to keep the block closed on Friday as well. Businesses located on the north side of Chapel between Orange and Church will be closed all day on Thursday.
